Sat Nam,

Word of the Day: Abundance

a·bun·dance; noun
A very large quantity of something;
Plentifulness of the good things of life; prosperity.

Recently I’ve been disconnected from my blog and usually when I disconnect myself it means that there’s something wrong, something that has put me into a state of isolation and depression, or I just don’t want to deal with my responsibilities… But I am happy to report that this is not the case; nor has this been the case for a very long time.

It still baffles me with how much the universe will give you if you just open up your arms and receive its gifts. My last blog post I talked about my visions for the future and I believe that because of that post, I was able to make a decision of an opportunity that was presented to me with clarity and authenticity. I am proud to say that starting March 9th, I will begin my wellness coaching certification program through the International College of Wellness Coaches.

When I first found this program, I immediately knew this was the one for me. I was driven to sign up no matter how hard it took…. And let me tell you, it was HARD. Since I am completely dependent of my parents money, there was no way I was going to go up to them and say, “Hey, I know you guys already pay for my schooling, my rent, my food, my clothes, and everything else, but will you please throw down $6,320 for this coaching program you know nothing about?”… Nope, not happening. What I did instead was ask them for my graduation money that they have kept saved for me and used that to pay for the deposit for their payment-plan option. This means that for the next 12 months, I will be paying off the rest of this program (over $4,000!) entirely out of my own pocket.

This is stressful – especially since I only work 2-3 times a week, I have fears that I might not have enough money to pay this off. I know this is just my ego, because I have already done the math and I know I am capable of paying it. It is stressful because I have never committed to something this big, and the fear of failure has definitely been strong.

The good news is that thanks to all the amazing spiritual work I do, I know how to change my mindset away from these fears. This why I have made my word of the day (or more like word of the year) abundance. As most people could already guess, I am a huge fan of the Law of Attraction – and if you don’t know what it is, I encourage you to Google it up! It could do wonders for your life. Anyways, today I am making a conscious decision to believe that I am worthy of abundance, to believe that I have more than enough money to get me through this program, to believe that I will create a successful coaching business, and to believe that abundance lies behind every door I open through my journey.

Affirmation for the day:
“I am open and willing to allow good to come to me. Money flows effortlessly into my life”

Sat Nam,

Changing My Mindset from FEAR to FAITH

A few months ago I to asked the universe to provide me with some answers regarding my dreams for the future. Since then, I have received so much guidance and so many opportunities presented to me that have completely changed the way I look at my future – But my fears and my ego are completely holding me back. You see, the problem is, the visions that I have for myself aren’t part of the “traditional path” that most people take. My dreams don’t include a fancy degree, a 9-5 job, or having a boss that I work my ass off for in order to get a promotion. My dreams are deeper than this; they include travel, service to others, creativity, entrepreneurship, being my own boss, setting my own work hours, being spiritually connected to the universe, and soo much more. So this seems like a no-brainer right? Well, I wish it was that simple (or who knows, maybe it is?). All I know is that my fears are pushing me farther away from my dreams everyday.

“You can’t succeed”

“You’ll be looked down upon”

“Your family will be disappointed

“Society will label you as a college drop-out”

“You can’t succeed without a degree”

“You’re dreams are unrealistic

“Get back in touch with reality, Amelia”

“You could never do this”

These are only a few of the thoughts I have said to myself. And I know these thoughts aren’t getting me anywhere, which I guess is why I decided to write this post in the first place.

Here’s my attempt to counteract my negativity:

I am capable of greatness, and here’s the greatness that I WANT (not what others want for me):

I want to become a certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach.

I want to graduate from a yoga teacher training program.

I want to make an impact.

I want to start a business that will inspire others to transform their lives.

I want to live simply.

I want to travel the world.

I want to write a book.

I want to be happy.

Love to you all,

Ignorance is not always bliss

Hello beautiful followers!

I have a HUGE update from the post I made on essential oils a few weeks back – so here it is:

Right after posting about essential oils I immediately was contacted by a wonderful women named Lynn, who is now my sponsor/enroller for dōTERRA. I am so grateful she reached out to me because if it wasn’t for her, I would still be using cheap, low-quality essential oils that don’t work to their fullest potential.

Lynn asked me if I had heard about dōTERRA and she invited me to a webinar so I could learn about these lovely oils. I was excited but also skeptical. I had heard about this company before but never understood why they were so popular. I thought to myself, “Why spend more money on these oils when I can just easily buy my usual cheaper oils at whole foods?” Well there it is – my total ignorance to the fundamental thing I have learned from replacing my old oils with dōTERRA: NOT ALL OILS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

After the webinar I decided it was worth the investment to try these oils out. I signed up for a wholesale account and purchased the Family Physician Enrollment Kit. A few days later my oils arrived – I was literally jumping for joy when I saw the UPS man delivering my package.

Here’s a picture of what my kit included – the oils in this picture are Slim & Sassy (bonus product), Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Melaleuca, Oregano, Frankincense, Deep Blue, Breathe, Digestzen, and On Guard:

I immediately opened my kit and just started smelling every oil. They were amazing! When I got to the peppermint, I took a huge whiff and discovered it was so POTENT (in a good way) and refreshing – so different from my old brand of peppermint. At this point I brought down my old brand of oils and you could literally tell the difference in quality just by comparing the smells of each oil!

I was also told I could apply a lot of these oils undiluted because of their quality and purity. For the purposes of research I decided to do a skin-test of undiluted dōTERRA Peppermint Oil on one arm, and a skin-test of my previous brand’s peppermint oil (also undiluted) on my other arm. The results were seriously shocking. dōTERRA’s Peppermint Oil caused absolutely no adverse reaction or skin irritation – it actually felt good. But within seconds, my other arm with my old brand started to feel like it was BURNING. Within 5 minutes I had a rash AND hives on it.

So there you have it – two brands of peppermint oil with a HUGE difference.

For the past week I have used my dōTERRA oils everyday. I’ve also been going through these specific oils very quickly: Peppermint for my headaches, Lavender for sleep, Deep Blue for my muscle aches and pains, Frankincense to uplift my mood, DigestZen to help with my digestive issues, Lemon to alkalize my body, and On Guard to fight the cold/flu season (literally everyone is getting sick around me right now and I’ve been healthy!).

I haven’t wanted to touch my old oils. After being educated on the difference and seeing the results myself, I don’t want anything to do with them. So is the investment on dōTERRA worth it? YES it definitely is – and the best way to experience the difference is to try them yourself!

xoxo, Amelia

My Life Was Not Always This Good

Today I woke up to find on my Facebook that another person has died from a drug overdose. I don’t know this guy personally, but I definitely know his pain. I know his suffering. I know how hard it was for him to get through a day without using. I also know the pain he inflicted on his family and friends, and how he could very easily make a list of people who had given up on him. I know the love he had for the people around him and the powerlessness that he felt when he would betray the people he loved. You want to know why I know all these things? Because not too long ago, I was in the exact same place.

On August 20th, 2013, my parents found me in my bedroom unresponsive due to an overdose of heroin and Valium. The ONLY reason why I’m alive today is because they found me in enough time to save me and send me to the hospital. Call it coincidence, divine intervention, saving grace, whatever you want – all I know is that there was a power greater than myself that day who didn’t think it was my time to go, and I am so grateful for that.

Since that day, I haven’t picked up a drink or drug, and I all the credit goes to my higher power, my sponsor, my 12-step program, my network of sober and supportive women, and my willingness to commit to a life of personal and spiritual growth one day at a time.

I still don’t understand why some people survive while others don’t get another chance. Most of the time it hurts when I try to question this since I’ve had several close friends die from this disease. All I can really do is be grateful that I am alive and stay clean in honor of the people who didn’t have the chance.

Not Another Juice Cleanse Conformist

After continuously hearing about this new obsession which seems like EVERYONE is talking about these days, I decided to join the latest fad – Juice Cleansing.  After finding a Groupon for a 1-day juice-cleanse by Jus by Julie for only $30, I decided to do it. I most likely would have done a 3-day cleanse, but being a college student and completely dependent on my parents money, there was no way I was going to ask them for a few hundred dollars to spend on a multi-day juice cleanse. So I kept it simple and went with one day.

First of all I want to give Jus by Julie kudos for her juices – I’ve heard some horrible reviews on other juice companies where people had to literally hold their nose just to guzzle down their juices. The great thing about this cleanse is that I truly ENJOYED drinking the juices. They were all delicious!

So here’s how my 1-day juice cleanse experience went:

9:30am – My stomach is growling and I am ready for my breakfast – oh wait! Just kidding, no breakfast for me. I go downstairs to drink my first juice of the day hoping it will fill me up at least a little bit. This juice was “Morning Glory,” which consisted of romaine, celery, spinach, apples, kale, bananas, strawberries, and water.  Well, I drank the whole thing pretty quick since I was pretty hungry, and it didn’t make much of a difference. I was more than ready for my second juice, which I was instructed to have in 2-3 hours.

11:00am – I’ve managed to stick it out despite being pretty hungry. I treat myself to a soothing detox bath using one cup baking soda and two cups Epsom salts mixed with peppermint, lemon, and rosemary essential oils. At least being in the bath was one way to keep me away from the kitchen. It also ended up really helping me sweat out toxins, which promoted the whole “detox experience.”

12:00pm – FINALLY my second juice – This one was called “Spicy Pome-nade” which had pomegranate, lemon, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water. It was delicious and I was able to take my time drinking this one.

12:30pm – Kundalini yoga time! I had so much energy at this point so I decided to do do an hour of Kundalini yoga.

2:00pm – At this point I was starving again – so thank god it was time for my third juice. This one was “Sweet Spin”, which had spinach, kale, pinapple, banana, mango, and water. This one was my favorite! Best green juice I’ve ever had.

4:00pm – At this point I was getting some ridiculous food cravings and I was hypersensitive to EVERYTHING. I vividly remember cringing when I could hear my roommate downstairs snacking on chips. I was so envious of her. Anyways, time for my fourth juice. This one was called “Chia Berry” which had strawberries, chia seeds, lemon, pomegranate, and water.

6:30pm – I finally got myself to go out with a friend. Of course, I was excited to see him, but I was not really sure how to tell him that I wouldn’t be eating anything on our way to go get dinner. I took my fifth drink with me which was called “Choco-nana.” So good! It had chocolate, banana, strawberries, and water. Tasted like chocolate mousse and definitely helped with my cravings for sweets. I sipped this at dinner, and my cravings at this point went away. But of course that’s when the worst headache took its toll on me and I had to cut the evening short.

9:30pm – I actually only had half of my last juice and saved the rest for the morning. This one was another green juice called “X-treme Greens” consisting of kale, spinach, lime, pineapple, orange, hemp seeds, and water.

I ended up going to bed early since at this point my headache was impossible to deal with.

I wake up at 7am on my own and totally ready to start my day. My mind seemed to be less groggy then it normally is in the morning and I didn’t need any coffee or tea! Its 2:30pm now and I haven’t had any caffeine yet by some miracle.

If I ever have enough money to invest in a multi-day cleanse I am definitely interested in trying it but I’m glad I eased into it. My cleanse required so much willpower and it made me realize a lot of my eating habits are based on emotional eating versus healthy eating. I am driven to keep up with healthy choices and this cleanse definitely helped give my system a quick break and I still can’t believe I made it all the way through!

Of course I still make fun of juicers even though I technically am one myself now – so here’s some humor to add into the mix:
